City of Hugo

Within the City of Hugo, there are lots of outdoor recreation options.  There are great privately operated facilities and public lands that are not owned, maintained, or managed by the City Hugo.  Here are some of the options. 
Cross Country Skiing
Ski trails are groomed at Irish Avenue Park in the winter.  Access and parking is available off of Irish Avenue.

Golfing
Hugo has one golf course within City limits, Oneka Ridge Golf Course.  There are several other courses within a short drive.

Shooting Ranges/ Hunt Clubs
There are two privately owned shooting ranges and Hunt Clubs in Hugo. 

Wild Wings of Oneka is a private Hunt Club that has sporting clays and hunting options.  They are located at 9491 152nd Street North in Hugo.

The Bald Eagle Sportsman's Association is located at 6557 N 125th Street in Hugo.  They offer rifle, pistol, and shotgun practice areas, as well as many community oriented programs.

Pickleball
There are two courts that can be used for pickleball or tennis located at Lions Park in Hugo.  The address is 5524 Upper 146th Street North.  The park is located near Hugo City Hall.  

Snowmobiling
Within the City of Hugo, there are miles of trails as well as connections to great regional trails for snowmobiling.  The Hugo Snowmobile Club maintains the trails within Hugo and are a part of the Washington County Star Trail Association. 

As a reminder, it is unlawful to operate a motorized recreational vehicle after 11:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday until 6:30 a.m. the next morning and between 1:00 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sundays.  Information on where you can ride within the City can be found in the Recreational Vehicle ordinance located in the City Code section of this website.

Nature Trails

The City of Hugo has two special passive parks that have non-paved trails that provide great opportunity to connect with nature.  Clearwater Creek Preserve offers a 1/2 mile creek side trail.  Parking is available off of Fable Hill Circle North.  The trail surface is made of wood chips and can be uneven or muddy, depending on the season.  The trail head includes a large park sign and trash receptacle.  Irish Avenue Park is located 14420 Irish Avenue North.  A small gravel parking lot is available off street.  A small sign and trash receptacle mark the start of the trails.  There are several miles of looped trails throughout the property.  The trails are mowed in the open prairie and can be uneven.  Please be respectful of the owners of property adjacent to the parks and access the parks only through the entrances described.

Shooting Regulations

Tennis
There are two parks in Hugo that have tennis courts.  Lions Park, located at 5524 Upper 146th Street North near City Hall, has two courts.  Arbre Park, located at 14180 Arbre Lane, has one court.  These courts and parks are available for all residents.  

Winter Sledding
The most popular public park to go sledding at in Hugo is Oak Shore Park.  It is located at 12790 Exhall Avenue North.  There are parking lots at the north and south sides of the park and it roughly located south-west of Hwy 61 and 130th Street.

Skate Boarding
There is a skate park at Lions Park that includes quarter pipes, grind rails, concrete ramp features, and a center pyramid.  

Ice Skating
There is an outdoor ice rink at Hugo Elementary School located at 14895 Francesca Avenue North.  In season, White Bear Lake Area Schools opens the warming house Monday-Friday from 5pm-9pm and on Saturday-Sunday 11am-6pm.
