Burning Permits
Burning permits are required for any burning larger than a 3 foot by 3 foot recreational fire and/or snow cover is less then 3 inches on the ground. See the MN DNR web site for burning bans, restrictions, and helpful information. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/fire/index.html
Burning of household waste has been illegal in Minnesota since 1969.
A burning permit application must be filed at Hugo City Hall 72 hours before your planned burn. The form is available at City Hall or to print at the link below.
