In 2026, the playground equipment at Frog Hollow Park will be replaced. The existing equipment will be removed and recycled. Minor improvements to the landscaping and site furnishings will also be made.
Residents were invited to help select the new playground at a neighborhood meeting on May 20, 20206. Multiple playground designs and color schemes will be presented. The Parks Commission gathered feedback on the proposals. Residents liked the uniqueness of the proposal from PlayIt Creations, but requested more challenging features suitable for ages 7 -12. A revised design was presented to the Parks Commission at their June 15, 2026 meeting and they recommended approval. The City Council approved the purchase and installation of the new playground equipment at their July 6, 2026 meeting. Renderings of the final playground design can be found below. PlayIt Creations is located in Hugo. This is the first playground designed by PlayIt Creations in Hugo. It includes custom Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete sculptures inspired by the name of the park and its special setting. Log steps, lily pad pods, two log climbers, 6' frog duo climber, frog on a rock, and spider web climber create a space that inspires imaginative play and a connection to nature. The playground features a tall woodline tower designed to feel like a tree house with two slides at 10' and 8'. Climbing challenges include a leaf climber, sidestep wall climber, 6' staggered challenge net, inclined plank bridge, horizontal net bridge, and vertical vine trek. The three connected towers provide multiple ways to play and traverse the playground above and at ground level. The swing area was expanded to offer two belt swings, two adaptive seats, two tot seats, and a multi-user saucer swing. A special feature that PlayIt Creations will install is the scavenger hunt. Custom critters will be hidden throughout the playground structure waiting to be discovered!
It is anticipated that the existing playground equipment will be removed at the end of August or early September immediately before the new playground will be installed.
