Important Changes to the Parking Ordinance
At its April 7, 2025 meeting, the Hugo City Council approved amendments to the ordinance regarding on-street parking. These changes are to clarify the ordinance's intent to prevent the long-term storage of trailers and other equipment on City streets. The new rules are as follows:
- Parking of trailers is prohibited on all city streets, except for a temporary period for loading and unloading only.
- Trailers being loaded or unloaded may be parked on the street for a cumulative period of 24 hours within seven days.
- A trailer that has been relocated three-tenths of a mile or less from its original location within seven days will be considered to have remained parked.
- Vehicles may be parked on City streets for a period not to exceed 72 hours.
